EPS polystyrene box 7 litres for chilled and frozen shipping
This lightweight 7-litre EPS insulated box is designed for shipping temperature-sensitive goods. Depending on the required temperature range, it can be combined with suitable cooling packs, cooling pads or dry ice. The foamed EPS structure combines thermal insulation with cushioning properties and low packaging weight.
Suitable applications and cooling media
| Application |
Suitability and notes |
| Chilled shipping |
Suitable. For goods requiring a defined chilled range, including chilled food and appropriately temperature-controlled pharmaceutical products. Depending on the pack-out, 0 °C cooling packs, gel cooling pads, NO-SWEAT cooling pads, water cooling pads or absorber cooling pads may be used. |
| Medicines and pharmaceutical products |
Suitable following product-specific assessment and validation. The required temperature range must be derived from the product specification. Cooling medium, quantity, positioning, transit time and packaging configuration must be adjusted accordingly. Depending on the specified range, use the media listed under “Chilled shipping” or “Frozen shipping”. |
| Frozen shipping |
Possible with a suitably designed pack-out. Depending on the target temperature, –21 °C deep-freeze cooling packs, –21 °C PCM frozen cooling pads, –16 °C PCM frozen cooling pads or dry ice may be used. The complete pack-out must be suitable for the goods and verified for the intended temperature range. |
| Unpacked food |
Do not use without suitable primary packaging. Food should be hygienically packed and protected from direct contact with the transport box and cooling medium. |
Pack-out and temperature control
The EPS box limits heat transfer but does not generate cooling. The cooling medium, its quantity and positioning must be matched to the goods, target range, transit time, load and ambient conditions.
- Bring the goods to the required starting temperature.
- Condition cooling packs or cooling pads completely before use.
- Use dry ice only in a suitable, verified pack-out.
- Minimise void space and position the cooling media according to the application.
- Close the lid fully immediately after packing.
No general cooling duration can be stated. Performance depends on box size, wall thickness, density, cooling medium, coolant quantity, product temperature, load, ambient temperature and transit time. Temperature-critical pack-outs should be tested under realistic conditions.
